Artknits Special Collections Week: Godey's Lady's Book

Hello everybody, I am talking about “Godey’s Lady’s Book. And it is one of my favorite fashion magazines that I love. Most of the fashion modals from Godey’s Lady’s Book are from France, England, Europe, and the other parts of USA. Some fashion modals from Godey’s Lady’s Book are from the magazines: “La Mode Illustree,” “Le Bon Ton,” “Peterson’s Magazine,” Frank Lesile’s Ladies Magazine, and the others. It was known as Godey’s 
Lady’s Book and Magazine, Godey’s Magazine, or Lady’s Book. I will tell you about when it was published, what it contained, who edited it and some of the fashions.



When it was first published? 
It was a American magazine that was published in the state of Pennsylvania from 1830-1898.
This magazine was published by Louis A. Godey in Phildephia. In 1879, the magazine has started changing editors. This magazine is published for 68 years from 1830-1898. 



What type of content was in this magazine? 
Each issue of the magazine had poetry, engravings, and articles. In each issue, there is one full coloured fashion plate for each issue for the month and the year. They also include sheet music, recipes, newest fashions,stories, and ads on the back. It was split into 9 parts because, they have colletions that completes the whole run of the magazine. They have full colour illustrations like a full-coloured fashion illustrations, sheet music, and other cool stuff inside the book. Or they have plublished a lots of issus of this book.



Who edited this magazine?
In 1830, one of the first editors of this book was Louis A. Godey. In 1836, there is a new editor named “Sarah J. Hale. In 1879, they have swiched editors who had edited this magazine until 1879-1898. Sarah was not a musican, but she added lots of articles and poetry to the publication.




What are the fashions look like in this magazine and what was the purpose? 
The popular features of Godey's Lady's Book was the La Belle Assemble. hand-colored fashion plates depicting the latest in women's fashions were published. The purpose of this book is for women will order by mail or buy it in stores. So when women look at the dresses they might like, they will order by mail or buy it from a clothing store. Women will encouraged to play piano and so were provided pieces of music through the magazine.

And, this is wrong.

 One of the most important things is communication skills. This is a skill that is important when you want to talk to people. Communication skills can be "verbal" because it was related to a "form of words." But today, we are going to talk about "non-verbal communication skills. Non-verbal communication skills are not saying words that how are you doing and what are you feeling. Non-verbal communication skills are kindly using your body language of how are you are feeling and doing.
