Celebrating 155 years of our fashion idol: Civil War Love Letter Of ‘63!

There are words, phrases, and statements in these letters that may be offensive to the reader. At the time the letters were written, certain words and phrases were common and even acceptable. We wish it were otherwise. The words are those of the author, James Love, and the attitudes he expresses are those of the time period. We have retained the original language of the letters because we believe that, in spite of their faults, the letters provide an exceptional first-hand account of the attitudes and actions during this horrific period in our nation’s history. Based on the text of this letter, which focuses entirely on personal matters, it appears that Molly’s mother and brother, William, learned about James and Molly’s secret engagement. Since Molly’s letters did not survive, the exact circumstances are not known. The ramifications of their relationship coming to light will unfold throughout the upcoming letters that James wrote during the summer of 1863. Hd. Qts. 8th Ks.

New Printable Paper Dolls: 1890s lady and kid from the children treasure chest book!

In Hong Kong, China In 2009, we have introduced our new product to every child in the world. This book has lots of kids stories from the late 19th century and the early 20th centuries. Those stories were classical, and it is perfect for bedtime also. This book learns colours, shapes, and much more! We have found a story called “Tippoo The Tiger,” and it took place in the early 20th century. It takes place in the beautiful Edwardian Era: 1900-1910. I copied and rengrave the outfits from this book, and copied them for playing, and dressing for them. Those paper dolls are based on the story. And I created a kid version of the doll, and she is wearing a blouse, with a dress over it. You can make your very own fashion parade out of those dolls! There are lots of outfits to choose from: blouses from the “Delineator”, and the skirts from “McCalls magazine”. Dress your very own style from the 1890s to today!

New Store For Australian Home journal Sewing Patterns: lyrebird vintage: available on Etsy!!

There's something incredible about clothing designs from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Stuff you can't really find in clothing or sewing patterns anymore. Pizzazz, uniqueness, creativity, call it what you want, I'm crazy about it.  A few years ago, I started collecting Australian Home Journals, a local magazine produced from the early 1900's that went out of business decades ago, and I recognised that I had found something really special. They were no McCalls, Butterick or Simplicity, they were simply magical.  I have a huge collection of the magazines at home but in my personal opinion, the catalogs are where it's at. I am proud to boast I have one of the largest AHJ catalog collection in the country, with almost every edition from 1941 to 1965 (and I'm not done yet!). These catalogs captured my imagination as a seamstress, with their never-before-seen designs and gorgeous, colourful illustrations evocative of those times.  This shop was a long time in the making, an

Evolution Of Our Favorite Book (AFI and UPB book): By Pictures and words

1865-1940:  The magazine was intended to entertain, inform and educate the women of America. In addition to extensive fashion descriptions and plates, the early issues included biographical sketches, articles about mineralogy, handcrafts, female costume, the dance, equestrienne procedures, health and hygiene, recipes and remedies and the like. Each issue also contained two pages of sheet music, written essentially for the pianoforte. Gradually the periodical matured into an important literary magazine containing extensive book reviews and works by Harriet Beecher Stowe, Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and many other celebrated 19th century authors who regularly furnished the magazine with essays, poetry and short stories. In 1865, they called our fashion idol: "Godey's Fashion's For January 1865." 1940-1953: This book is a wonderful spiral-bound book for women, is a "gentle effort to recall the past in terms of the presen
