What is a bustle?

A bustle is a padded undergarment used to add fullness, or support the drapery, at the back of women's dresses in the mid-to-late 19th century. Bustles were worn under the skirt in the back, just below the waist, to keep the skirt from dragging. Heavy fabric tended to pull the back of a skirt down and flatten it.

130th anniversary Gymnastics: Split Leaps

A split leap is an important skill in gymnastics, and  one that you should master . A split leap is usually part of the dance in both your floor and beam routines. In this article we share some drills and exercises you can do to help you learn a beautiful, perfect split leap. As a beginner gymnast, you will start doing a split leap requiring only a 90° split in the  level 3  floor routine. By the time you are a  level 5  gymnast, you will need to be able to do a split leap with a 150° split on floor. Starting as a  level 6  gymnast, you will need to be able to do a leap, split, or jump with a 180° split. So needless to say, a split leap is a skill you should spend time learning how to do perfectly.

When she arrived to the 1870's, she had saw lots of poofy bums in the streets, and all over the town. So, she went to a clothing store to ask the store manager to try on some clothes. Then she wanted to try wearing a corset everyday or at work. When she tried walking on the streets, she saw a lot of ladies with poofy bums all over here. In the beginning of October, Ms. Rozano is planning to learn about fashions from an another era. So, she wanted to go to the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, to check there is a book from the 1800s, that talks about fashion. When she looked at the catalog on her computer, she had saw some books from the 1800s: Godey's 1840, Godey's 1851, Godey's 1863, and Godey's 1865. So, she wanted to renew a library card and, it was called "U of T student card." When she had her library card ready, she is ready to pick a book from the right shelf number. When she arrived the shelve number that she picked, she picked "Godey's Lady's Book 1865, to learn about historical fashion, and what is different like today's fashions. The book that Ms. Rozano picked: Godey's 1865
