Building on the foundation of knowledge gained in studying color theory, composition, and an exploration of a variety of techniques & media, students will continue to define their artistic self, improve problem-solving skills, while building their personal art portfolio. Students’ own art becomes infused with a variety of images and influenced by different approaches. They are very aware of elements from popular culture and eager to incorporate them into their art; our teachers help them do so. Students continue to make composition decisions and use a variety of materials and techniques to produce two- and three-dimensional works of art, as well as multimedia forms.
Through creative activities, students continue their process of exploration, discovery, and learning in the visual arts and broaden their knowledge and appreciation of the field. The emphasis is on students’ development of their problem-solving skills as well as technical competence and development of their distinct personal style. The study of art in its historical and cultural contexts gives students an appreciation of and insight into the visual arts both as a record of human achievement and as inspiration for their own creation of art. Students are encouraged to start their portfolio preparation if interested in admission to specialized secondary type of art.
